No error messages, and everthing appears to be fine in my device manger, Display driver reports to be running fine. At this point, no combination of actions will get rid of black screen, but i can still sign in and everything. Power off, reboot, black screen, close lid, open, black screen. For whatever reason i try to launch metro again, and surprise surprise, black screen. I close my laptop, then reopen it, and it works normally, i sign in, then get an error, telling me Dx9 has crashed or something like that, i didnt pay much attention. I fully power off my laptop, then reboot, am greeted with another black screen instead of sign in screen. Then screen goes black, but I can hear the music and sound effect in the background. Installed Metro 2033 on steam, launch it for the first time, it goes through the normal first time launch stuff. Personally I turn v-sync off, but I turn on triple buffering. So, this is a strange set of circumstances that i'll try to explain as best as possible This is what I did to fix it… (see images I uploaded) *Use 8xQ as AA - CSAA Modes give problems (8x 16x 16xQ) Possible Solution #3: (By DualBootGamer from the Steam forums)įor those of you who have Alt+Tab blackout here is the fix I got a black screen upon re-entering the game from an alt-tab but found that alt-tabbing again and then re-entering the game for a second time fixed the issue. Solution #2:(By Riutse from the Steam forums) Completely restart Steam again and launch the game. Open the user.cfg file again, and change the fullscreen value back to on. Go to the options menu, and change the Direct X value to 10, accept and quit. Open it and change the fullscreen value to off, then save the file.Ĭompletely quit and restart Steam.exe so it grabs the updates from the user.cfg, and launch Metro. In that folder you should find the Metro user.cfg file that the steam cloud saves locally.
